The online Master of Science in Veterinary Medical Sciences with a concentration in Shelter Medicine is designed for students and professionals seeking advanced graduate education in shelter medicine, animal welfare, shelter operations, and population health.
Upon successful completion of the program, students earn a Master of Science degree from the University of Florida Graduate School with a concentration in Shelter Medicine.
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must hold either:
- a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the University of Florida Graduate School, or
- a DVM or VMD degree from a veterinary college recognized by the University of Florida Graduate School
International degrees must be considered equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor’s degree.

Minimum GPA Requirements
Applicants to the master’s degree program are expected to have a minimum 3.0 upper-division undergraduate GPA.
Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 are encouraged to contact the program for advisement before applying.
