Dr. Tiva Hoshizaki, BVSc

Dr. Tiva Hoshizaki received her veterinary degree from Massey University, New Zealand in 2012. She then completed an internship and a residency in shelter medicine through the Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell University. Dr. Hoshizaki co-authored the textbook “Every Nose Counts: A Guide to Shelter Metrics” and is passionately involved in bridging the gap between sheltering best practices and technology.

Dr. Hoshizaki works at a variety of shelters ranging from large municipal facilities to small non-profits. When not taking care of animals, she is a software designer and product manager for Shelterluv, a cloud-based shelter software company. Her other interests include animal behavior, dentistry, and staying up all night bottle-feeding kittens.
