Dr. Jo Jarred graduated from North Carolina State University in 2017 with a focus in zoological medicine. She practiced at a mixed animal hospital with a focus on exotics for three years before transitioning to shelter medicine in 2020.
Dr. Jarred earned her Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences from the University of Florida with a concentration in Shelter Medicine in 2023. Dr. Jarred is currently the medical director for Orange County Animal Services in Chapel Hill, NC as well as a relief veterinarian part time. Dr. Jarred maintains a passion for non-traditional species – especially small mammals, and feels extremely fulfilled blending her love for exotics, wildlife, and farm animals with animal welfare and shelter operations.
